Celebration Day
18.07.2012
Our Year 8 leavers said farewell in style at our recent Celebration Day
The Celebration Day was typically full of joy, laughter and tears as the entire school came together to reflect on a hugely successful year for Prior Park, but also to bid farewell to the Class of 2012 - our Year 8 leavers.
Set in the wonderful marquee which was used for our Summer Ball the night before, our Celebration Day was a wonderful opportunity to mark the fantastic achievements of the year - notably an Outstanding ISI inspection, several pupil achievements and sporting recognitions.
From our Acorns Pre-Prpe children singing "Reach for the Stars" to our Senior Choir performance, it was a whole school occasion which aptly rounded off a fantastic year. Other musical treats came from the Little Shop of Horrors chorus and the Junior Choir.
Of course, the main stars of the show were the Year 8 pupils, who bid farewell to the school, their teachers and each other. They have each blossomed during their time here at Prior Park and are now ready to face the challenge of senior education head on, as confident, independent young adults. Our guest of honour, Walking with the Wounded hero Francis Atkinson, presented them with their prizes and leavers book.
There was barely a dry eye in the marquee following the Vote of Thanks from our Head Boy and Head Girl - Kyran Griffin and Jordan Winston. They were excellent role models for the younger children, led by example throughout the year and we are proud to have them as ambassadors for the school.
We would like to thank Francis Atkinson who thoroughly engaged the children with tales of his time in Afghanistan and subsequent charity work with Walking with the Wounded where, following a serious arm injury, he climbed Everest to raise funds for the charity. Thanks also goes to our Chair of Governors Commodore Chris York, Monsignor Twomey and all other friends of the school, including parents, who turned out to support this event.

We wish you all a happy summer holiday!
