Year 1 had a very interesting day at the Gloucester Folk Museum. They experienced the Victorian school and they found it very different to our school today.
The teacher was very strict and scary, unlike our lovely teachers! Some naughty children were sent to stand at the back of the class when they couldn’t answer the questions. It was quite difficult to write with the slate pen on the slate board and there were lots of blue fingers after using the pen and ink. After the school room, they learnt about Victorian wash day and helped to wash, dry, hang out the washing and iron the clothes.
Before Year 1 returned to school, they looked at the Victorian displays in the museum and found out more about the kitchen and toys and how they differ from ours. What a fantastic day they had!
