Wishford Fencing

This term, Cricklade Manor hosted the first Wishford Fencing with some of high potential fencers entertaining our sister Wishford school Hatherop Castle for an afternoon of Fencing training.

Taking advantage of the glorious weather, we had an outside warm-up and footwork, which allowed our pupils to get to know Hatherop's fencers over a couple of fencing related games.  We then moved into the school hall where the fencers were grouped into either their preferred weapon or the one they needed the most practice at before their next competition! In some cases this is for regional and national honours!

The afternoon was then spent sparring in a pool format with pupils presiding each other across the disciplines of foil, epee and sabre.  This was the very first time both schools had fencers participating with representatives in all three weapons - another first for Cricklade Manor!

The children enjoyed the opportunity to meet other fencers in this relaxed training environment. An enjoyable afternoon for all!
