Renewable Energy

Year 7 were challenged to apply their understanding of Renewable Energy to plan the establishment of a research station for 10 scientists on a newly discovered (theoretical) island. Each group had to make a list of equipment and resources the scientists would need to be self sustaining for 1 year. The key factor was that that when they left they should not have disrupted the ecosystem.

The pupils drew their understanding of weather and climate (Geography), research skills, budgeting (Applied Maths), renewable energy (Physics), ecosystems (Biology) and design (STEAM).
They worked exceptionally well and prepared their list with careful thought and discussed their ideas using the Talking Partner rules. 

Well done Year 7 for accepting the challenge and being self motivated to work independently through this task.
