The Prep School thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the College Big Band this week as both singers and blowers got the chance to test their swing! Led by Mr David Sackett, the College's Assistant Director of Music, our young instrumentalists learnt some basic improvisation skills - warmly encouraged and mentored by the College students. They all did incredibly well in what could have been a daunting experience, joining the Big Band in their rendition of the Swingin' Shepherd Blues and playing their own improvised solo.
The singers of both Junior and Senior choirs were not missing the opportunity and joined the band for two classic swing numbers - Sing Sing Sing and It Don't Mean a Thing - and with over 50 students taking part we really managed to raise the roof.
A huge thank you to all staff who made this possible - and particularly the PPC Big Band - we hope you 'swing' by again soon!
