Not just a World Book Day, but a week of storytelling celebrations

Nursery and Pre-Prep have enjoyed a fun Book week. Monday saw a visit from the children’s author Tammy Johnston (Elmo’s Christmas Tail). Tammy gave lots of useful tips to our young authors and inspired the children to produce their own books in her book writing workshops.

Parents came to read their favourite stories to their children’s classes which further inspired a love of reading in Pre-Prep.

On Wednesday we were delighted to welcome another children’s author to our school. Lottie Prentice came to read her latest book ‘Night, Night My Little Tiger’. Some children were thrilled to buy signed copies of this book too.

Thursday was perhaps the highlight of the week, World Book Day. Children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters and were able to tell everyone in assembly who their character was and show their book. We had a number of Red Riding Hoods, a couple of Gangsta Granny’s and three lively Willy Wonka’s amidst our wonderfully, colourful collection of costumes. Thank you to all children and parents for the excellent effort and innovation.

During the week we had also been collecting books which children had grown out of for our Book Swap on Thursday afternoon. This is always popular and an excellent way for children to recycle their books and enjoy adding new books to their collections.

Thank you to all for making Book Week an inspired learning experience.
