Hobgoblin Theatre brings a high speed, hilarious, history of Britain

Prior Park Prep children enjoyed a high speed, hilarious, history of Britain in assembly today, when the Hobgobglin Theatre company visited the school.

For the unfamiliar, The Hobgoblin Theatre Company is a touring educational theatre that delivers a variety of history shows, using a company of just three actors. Each of their plays springs to life through vibrant characters and engaging stories, interactive discussion and drama workshops.

In the 'History of Britain' show, the HobGoblin Theatre take the children through 10,000 years of history, on a journey from the Stone Age to Scottish Independence, delivered using a variety of styles, from chat show to panto. Performing today were actors Luke, Emily and Drew who delivered a great fun performance, complete with set, props, puppetry and a frantic set costume changes all to add to the humour and giggles!

At the end of the show the children were quizzed and for those with the answer right, there was an opportunity to become part of the human timeline of Britain. The multitude of hands raised in response to the questions, demonstrated the enthusiasm and engagement, as well as how much of the history of Britain, they had absorbed in just 60 minutes!

I thought it was very funny.

The children were thoroughly engaged by the humorous way that the historical information was delivered. I was very impressed by how much information the children had learned at the end of the play. A super performance!
