We are delighted to award our April Sports Star of the Month to a Young aspiring Tennis Player who has gone from strength to strength in recent years. For 3 years running she has been selected by the LTA as one of their elite players to attend monthly Regional training camps at Bath University and more recently has signed a contract with Wilson UK to become part of Team Wilson.
She plays at County, Regional and National level and in 2016 she was the U9 National finalist at Bolton Arena. In the past 2 years she has won the Wiltshire County Championships, in 2016 she won the U9 County Championships and currently holds the U10 County Championships. She also represented her school in tennis last summer and was crowned U10 Severnside doubles champions with her playing partner. .
However, it is not all about tennis, as she is also a talented athlete who competes successfully in track and field events at Athletics meets and represents the school in numerous sports although, more notably playing for the U13 Hockey and U13 Netball team as an U11 pupil.
Obviously all of this success is only possible through committed parents, who often sacrifice their own time to give their daughter so many fantastic opportunities.
Our sports star’s parents added that she ‘works hard to achieve her goals and can be very tough on herself to meet targets set by her coach. She trains 6 times a week with 3 individual lessons and 3 Performance squad at the Delta centre’.
This is a busy schedule to keep up with however, our sports star added that ‘my goal is to play at Wimbledon at the age of 15 and at some point become the Number 1 female player in the world’. From September last year she moved from ‘Mini’ to ‘Junior’ tennis and now competes against U11 to U16 girls.
We are blessed to have such an amazing talent at Cricklade Manor Prep and we cannot wait to see what this talented pupil can achieve in the future.
