Affordability and a duty to serve

Affordability and private schooling is a much debated topic - in the education media and around the table at Prior Park Schools' governor meetings. Mr Pearce, Headmaster at Prior Park Prep, has been talking about this very subject in his blog for the Independent Schools Council.

In September 2017, Prior Park Prep becomes a day school. There will be no more boarding and no more Saturday school (except a few sports fixtures). Boarding will move to our senior school, Prior Park College in Bath. This frees up space for further day school facilities, including the new Creative Design & Technology suite arriving in September.

As a School with a Catholic Christian ethos, we are committed to offering a Prior Park Prep education to as many families as possible and we recognise and understand the sacrifices that parents and grandparents are having to make in order to allow their children to benefit from a Prior education. The changes at the Prep School allow us to reduce school fees and increase capacity at the school for local families. School fees will reduce by up to 15%, bringing the Prep School in line with the best value Prep Schools in the UK, including our sister school, The Paragon in Bath.

Reducing fees is a bold move in a market facing increasing costs but our market research has shown there is the demand for affordable high quality day school education serving Swindon, Cricklade and the surrounding villages and we feel it is our duty to provide it.
