Developing a positive attitude to learning, which in turn, helps a pupil gain self-esteem and confidence in themselves, is key to our success.
The Learning Support Department aims to ensure that children in both the Prep and Pre-Prep departments reach their full social and educational potential, by providing individual pupil learning programmes and advice to the wider teaching staff.
With carefully differentiated tasks, appropriate teaching and specialist teachers, we see that pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties go on to achieve well. Progress is monitored and shared with parents and staff via Classroom and Individual Support Plans.
We find the preferred learning style of each pupil and incorporate a variety of multi-sensory methods in an effort to fully reinforce both the individual programme of study and the work undertaken in the classroom. We cater for a range of SpLDs: mild to moderate dyslexia, dyscalculia and other associated difficulties.
We are a well-equipped department with a comprehensive variety of resources and we provide 1:1 and small group tuition.
The Learning Support Department supports pupils with:
- Motor Movement
- Study Skills
Parents are always welcome to come in to seek advice and chat about their concerns.
Pupils, including those with SEND, make frequently excellent progress over time which is considerably helped by early emphasis on basic skills in literacy and numeracy which continue to build as pupils move through the school.ISI Inspection Report
