Our Art department is a lively, exciting, and creative place where pupils experience a wide range of art disciplines and materials through a curriculum that is ever-changing and stimulating.
We aim to encourage the artist within each pupil by fostering an enjoyment of the visual arts, developing each child’s individual style and artistic flair. Our Head of Art, Mrs Brookes, familiarises each pupil with the elements of Art: line, tone, colour, pattern, form and texture.
Housed in a purpose built studio with high ceilings and ample natural light, pupils gain experience in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics (we have a kiln so pupils can produce beautiful fired ceramics) through the study of a rich and varied scheme of work. A high percentage of cross-curricular projects take place across the school particularly with History, Outdoor Learning, Science and Music.
As well as subject collaborations, we participate in local and national Art projects, artists in residence workshops, after school clubs and art enrichment weeks for the whole school. Have a look at our gallery.
We have been fortunate to visit Venice and Barcelona on joint Art and Music tours, enabling pupils to absorb themselves in a different culture.
