Organisation

Prior Park is a friendly, nurturing environment where happy, confident children play and learn. We have Nursery (3 to 4 years), Pre-Prep (4 to 7 years) and Prep (7 to 13 years). When children join Prior Park they are joining a genuinely family-orientated community.

We aim to offer you and your child the best possible start to school life and we understand that the choices made in the earliest years are the ones that play the largest role in developing and shaping your child’s future success.

A brief introduction to Prior Park

Nursery

Our nursery offers a gentle introduction to school life for children aged three and four. It's run by a Nursery Teacher supported by a fully qualified Teaching Assistant. Children attend between three and five mornings a week and can also come in the afternoon if parents and teachers feel this is a good idea.

Pre-Prep

Children join our Pre-Prep department in the September after their fourth birthday. A dedicated class teacher teaches the core curriculum while French, Music and Games are taught by specialist teachers. Subject co-ordinators also give additional support when necessary.

Moving Up to Prep

The transition from our Pre-Prep to Prep is a natural progression. The Headmaster, Head of Lower Prep and specialist subject teachers regularly visit the Pre-Prep and get to know the children and there are a number of opportunities for our children and parents to get to know the main Prep School. This is aided by several taster days held in the Lent and Summer terms.

Prep

Children join our Prep when they are seven, and become a member of one of our four houses. Subject divisions become more defined at this stage, with more subjects taught by specialist teachers. Gradually, we help children develop the skills to make a happy and confident start in their senior schools.

Education is what remains when we have forgotten all that we have been taught.
