Curriculum
Prior Park offers a modern approach to teaching, using the latest methods and technology. Pupils are monitored closely by their teachers and also assessed using external systems, with clear targets set for each pupil. Small class sizes and well qualified professional staff actively promote a nurturing environment which caters for the individual, inspiring a love of learning.
The curriculum is designed to focus not only on academic excellence but also on an intellectual awareness and interest in the world in general.
Children are prepared for their final examinations to independent senior schools, largely via Common Entrance or Scholarship. Over 50 per cent of pupils have achieved scholarships to their senior school in recent years. Academic success is achieved alongside a strong commitment to the all-round life of the school, where a passion for sports, the arts, or an extra-curricular activity will contribute towards academic progress. To that end, music, art, drama and design technology are all integral parts of the curriculum.
The curriculum is designed to focus not only on academic excellence, but also on an intellectual awareness and interest in the world in general. Our own PSHE (physical, social, health education and citizenship) programme runs alongside the academic curriculum promoting discussion on a wide variety of topics that stimulate individual thought and research.
